Membership Benefits

We highly value collaboration with related organizations and partners, as evidenced by our longtime partnership with sister organization, UKSG, as well as membership in the following organizations:

  • UKSG: The United Kingdom Serials Group, like NASIG, connects the information community and encourages the exchange of ideas on scholarly communication.
  • NISO: Managed by the Standards Committee, NASIG is the NISO Representative for North America for TC46. NASIG collaborates with NISO related to open infrastructure. NASIG members receive discounted or free NISO webinar benefits.
  • Project COUNTER: NASIG supports COUNTER, which provides the latest trends regarding consistent, credible and comparable usage data from publishers and vendors.
  • IFLA: The NASIG board liaises with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions to nominate IFLA committee members. NASIG members receive discounted registration rates to attend IFLA WLIC (World Library and Information Congress).
  • C4DISC: NASIG adopted the Coalition for Diversity & Inclusion in Scholarly Communications' (C4DISC) joint statement of principles, which led to the creation of NASIG’s Diversity and Inclusion Award, in partnership with Harrassowitz. NASIG’s Equity and Inclusion Committee continues to use C4DISC’s principles to influence activities and services by providing educational opportunities related to diversity and social justice.

Affiliation Benefits

In addition, NASIG has strategic affiliations with the following organizations:

- ALA Affiliates / NALCos: The NASIG Equity & Inclusion committee supports the following ALA Affiliates: The American Indian Library Association (AILA), Asian Pacific American Library Association (APALA), Black Caucus American Library Association (BCALA), Chinese American Library Association (CALA), and REFORMA.

Library Publishing Coalition (LPC): NASIG member benefits include shared resources, LPC listserv access, and attendance at select non-fee-based webinars and roundtables. NASIG and LPC DEI committees share information, and the LPC Preservation Task Force engages with NASIG's Model Preservation Policy.

Library Accessibility Alliance (LAA): The activities of the LAA shape NASIG's programming and strategic directions and goals.

Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP): SSP and NASIG provide members with discount affiliated registration on educational programming as well as cross promotion of events.
