NASIG Mentoring ProgramNASIG's Mentoring Program* is again sponsoring a Conference Mentoring Program to help make new conference attendees feel more at ease, highlight membership benefits and create networking opportunities. The program will match experienced NASIG conference attendees with new conference goers.
The deadline for accepting applications is May 12, 2008. Qualifications 1.) First time NASIG Conference attendees planning to attend the 23rd Annual NASIG Conference in Phoenix, AZ. NASIG Student Grant Winners, NASIG Horizon winners and new NASIG members are especially encouraged to apply. 2.) NASIG members with at least one year's conference experience willing to volunteer a few hours of conference time sharing, advising and assisting new conference attendees. NASIG Executive Board and NASIG Standing Committee members as well as former Student Grant and Horizon winners are especially encouraged to apply. First time NASIG-goers or Mentees (those being mentored) may be any first time NASIG attendees - Mentors (those providing mentoring) should have a sincere interest in helping new attendees get the most out of the NASIG Conference and should encourage membership. Qualifications involve having good listening skills, having at least one year's experience as a NASIG conference goer, and ability to act as a professional role model. Mentors must be NASIG members. Participants of the program will receive name, phone numbers, e-mail and addresses of the individual with whom they are matched. Matched participants should contact each other before the conference begins and plan to meet a minimum of two times during the conference. First time meetings should take place at the Mentoring Reception, if possible. To apply, please fill out the online Mentoring Application Form. Please review the Guidelines for Mentors and Mentees. After the conference, please fill out the online evaluation form to help future program coordinators improve the Mentor Program.
