POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
PROFILES EDITOR

The Profiles Editor works closely with the Editor-in-Chief and other Newsletter Editorial Board members to ensure timely and effective production of the NASIG Newsletter, and to develop and implement improvements for its process, policies, content, structure, and appearance.
Production of individual Newsletter issues often requires short periods of intensive work within short turn-around times. Members of the Newsletter Editorial Board routinely find this commitment requires occasional evening and/or weekend hours.

SPECIFIC, ROUTINE TASKS:
* With the Editor-in-Chief, maintain the content guidelines and process for ?NASIG Profiles?
* With the Editor-in-Chief, maintain the cycle of profiles for inclusion in Newsletter
* Interview (in person, or by phone, fax, or e-mail) people to be profiles and write an article based on the interview, following the content guidelines and following details specified in the Style Sheet.
* Send profiles to the Editor-in-Chief by each issue's submission deadline

REQUIRED QUALITIES AND SKILLS: reliability; flexibility; initiative; creativity; dedication to producing a high quality and timely product; ability to maintain good working relationships with others, esp. within a geographically dispersed team; convenient use of an e-mail program; excellent writing skills; effective communication and organization skills; ability to work well independently

DESIRED QUALITIES AND SKILLS: detailed knowledge of NASIG structure and membership; familiarity with NASIG resources; basic skills with a recent Windows version of Microsoft Word; convenient use of an e-mail program that can handle attachments
